Abstract:
A lane trace control system for maintaining a vehicle in its intended lane of travel. The system includes a lane trace control module configured to: compare the road information obtained by a lane recognition camera with map data obtained from a map module; determine a confidence level of the lane recognition camera based on a magnitude of any differences identified between the road information obtained from the lane recognition camera and the obtained map data; generate a target wheel angle for keeping the vehicle in its intended lane based entirely on the road information obtained from the lane recognition camera when the confidence level is above a predetermined threshold; and generate the target wheel angle based on a combination of the road information obtained from the lane recognition camera and the obtained map data of the road when the confidence level is below the predetermined threshold.

Driving control systems and methods include a first vehicle having one or more processors programmed to receive an individual driving behavior model specific to a driver of a second vehicle proximate the first vehicle. The individual driving behavior model is based on historical driving behavior of the driver of the second vehicle. The one or more processors are programmed to identify a motion plan for the first vehicle based on the individual driving behavior model specific to the driver of the second vehicle, and to control movement of the first vehicle according to the identified motion plan.

Abstract:
An autonomous drive system for a vehicle. The system has an autonomous drive module configured to pilot the vehicle. A control module monitors operating performance of the autonomous drive system. A location module identifies the vehicle's location. A transmitter/receiver communicates with a high risk location monitoring module at a location remote to the vehicle. When the control module determines that performance of the autonomous drive system is below a predetermined performance threshold, the control module retrieves the vehicle's location from the location module and transmits the vehicle's location to the high risk location monitoring module, which records the vehicle's current location to notify other vehicles that autonomous drive issues may occur at the vehicle's location.

Abstract:
A driver assisting system for a vehicle that is capable of operating in an autonomous drive mode and a manual drive mode is provided. The driver assisting system includes: an autonomous drive apparatus that controls the vehicle during the autonomous drive mode; a navigation apparatus; a detector that obtains information associated with an eagerness of the driver; an eagerness determiner that determines; and a controller that switches between the autonomous drive mode and the manual drive mode. The navigation apparatus is configured to initially suggest an original route, suggest an alternative route, and suggest a fastest route when the vehicle deviates from the original route and the eagerness determiner determines that the driver is in the high eagerness state. The controller is configured to set the autonomous drive mode, maintain the autonomous drive mode, and switch to the manual drive mode.

A processor is coupled to a vehicle, the processor being configured to store a lane change parameter. A feature sensor detects a feature of a passenger in the vehicle. The processor is programmed to control the vehicle to execute an assisted lane change based on the lane change parameter, the lane change parameter defining a characteristic of the assisted lane change, communicate with the feature sensor to detect the feature of the passenger during the assisted lane change, determine whether the passenger was comfortable during the assisted lane change based on the detected feature of the passenger, and modify the lane change parameter upon determining that the passenger was uncomfortable.

A collision avoidance system including a proximity sensor for a lead vehicle configured to determine an actual distance between the lead vehicle and a following vehicle. A projector for the lead vehicle is configured to project, above ground level, an image from the lead vehicle towards the following vehicle to notify the following vehicle of the lead vehicle. A control module for the lead vehicle is configured to instruct the projector to project the image when the actual distance is less than a threshold safety distance.
