Ground Threat Location For An Aircraft

US Patent:
8009515, Aug 30, 2011
Filed:
Dec 1, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/315224
Inventors:
Joseph F. Cecala - Endwell NY, US
Carl R. Herman - Owego NY, US
Stephen C. Moraites - Owego NY, US
Assignee:
Lockheed Martin Corporation - Bethesda MD
International Classification:
G01S 3/80
US Classification:
367124, 367906
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for locating threats to an aircraft that are located on the ground. Associated bearings are determined from an aircraft for each of a plurality of detected shots from a threat at ground level. A plurality of pairs of bearings are selected, and a weight value is calculated for each selected pair of bearings. An estimated position for the threat is determined from each selected pair of bearings. An improved estimation of the position for the threat is calculated as a weighted combination of the estimated positions.

Method And Computer Program Product For Identifying And Incorporating New Output Classes In A Pattern Recognition System During System Operation

US Patent:
2004002, Feb 5, 2004
Filed:
Jul 30, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/208447
Inventors:
Joseph Cecala - Endwell NY, US
Rosemary Paradis - Vestal NY, US
Elliott Reitz - Bradenton FL, US
Assignee:
Lockheed Martin Corporation
International Classification:
G06K009/62
US Classification:
382/225000
Abstract:
The present invention recites a method and computer program product for identifying one or more new pattern classes and incorporating the classes into a pattern recognition classifier as output classes. A plurality of input patterns determined not to be associated with any of a set of at least one represented output class by a pattern recognition classifier are rejected. The rejected pattern samples are then grouped into clusters according to the similarities between the pattern samples. Clusters that represent new pattern classes are identified via independent review. The classifier is then retrained to include the new pattern classes as output classes.

Passenger And Item Tracking With Predictive Analysis

US Patent:
2005025, Nov 10, 2005
Filed:
May 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/837648
Inventors:
Joseph Zanovitch - Barton NY, US
Joseph Porter - Conklin NY, US
Sheila Curry - Towanda PA, US
Mark Gaug - Vestal NY, US
Joseph Cecala - Endwell NY, US
International Classification:
G06F017/60
US Classification:
705001000, 705005000
Abstract:
A dynamically configurable threat scanning machine management system is capable of tracking information associated with one ore more items and/or passengers. A central control computer network can transmit, among other things, operational software and threat profiles to the threat scanning machines, while the threat scanning machines can transmit, among other things, images and performance data to the central computer that can be distributed to one or more operator stations for review and analysis. The threat scanning machine management system can be arranged in a hierarchical manner, which enables threat scanning machines at various locations to be connected into regional, national or international control centers. The network may be wireless and the control computer may be portable, enabling a supervisor to remotely manage the system while remaining mobile. The tracked information allows, for example, comparison to other information to determine if an alarm or change in threat status is warranted.
