Compressor Control System And Method

US Patent:
6427465, Aug 6, 2002
Filed:
Jul 28, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/627485
Inventors:
John H. Bednarchik - Farmington Hills MI
Edwin J. Stanke - Bloomfield MI
John M. Cole - Shelby Township MI
Assignee:
General Motors Corporatoin - Detroit MI
International Classification:
B60H 300
US Classification:
62227, 62209
Abstract:
An apparatus and system for manipulating the air temperature within an interior compartment of a vehicle, the apparatus cycles a compressor between an off and on position based upon a temperature reading of the evaporator fins positioned to cool the air of the vehicle. The system employs a control algorithm wherein the evaporator fin temperature of the evaporator determines the operational status of the compressor.

Active Body Panels For Rear Pillars Of A Vehicle

US Patent:
2020000, Jan 2, 2020
Filed:
Jun 29, 2018
Appl. No.:
16/024041
Inventors:
- Detroit MI, US
Magalie Debellis - Beverly Hills MI, US
Darren T. Luke - West Bloomfield MI, US
Nicholas J. Christoff - Macomb MI, US
Steven A. Del Gaizo - Ferndale MI, US
John H. Bednarchik - Royal Oak MI, US
International Classification:
B62D 35/00
B62D 25/04
B62D 25/08
Abstract:
A vehicle having an active panel is disclosed. The vehicle defines a rearmost surface. The vehicle includes a frame defining a D-pillar, an active panel, and an actuation system. The active panel extends in a fore-and-aft direction of the vehicle and covers at least a portion of the D-pillar. The active panel defines a trailing edge that is oriented towards an aft direction and is moveable between a stowed position and a deployed position. The actuation system is operatively connected to the active panel and is configured to extend the active panel from the stowed position into the deployed position and from the deployed position into the stowed position. The trailing edge of the active panel is substantially aligned with the rearmost surface of the vehicle in the stowed position and extends beyond the rearmost surface of the vehicle in the deployed position.

Rear Diffuser System For An Automotive Vehicle

US Patent:
2019033, Nov 7, 2019
Filed:
May 2, 2018
Appl. No.:
15/969203
Inventors:
- Detroit MI, US
John H. Bednarchik - Royal Oak MI, US
Donnell B. Johnson - Warren MI, US
Darren T. Luke - West Bloomfield MI, US
Danilo A. Oliveira - Sterling Heights MI, US
International Classification:
B62D 35/00
B62D 35/02
Abstract:
An automotive vehicle includes a body having a fore portion, an aft portion, and an underbody portion. The vehicle additionally includes a panel pivotably coupled to the underbody portion proximate the aft portion of the body. The panel has a fore edge and an aft edge and is pivotable about the fore edge. The panel is pivotable between a stowed position and a deployed position. In the stowed position the aft edge is spaced a first distance from a driving surface and in the deployed position the aft edge is spaced a second distance from the driving surface. The second distanced is less than the first distance. The vehicle additionally includes an actuator configured to move the panel between the stowed position and the deployed position in response to satisfaction of an operating condition.
