Deceleration Based Anti-Collision Safety Light Control For Vehicle

US Patent:
6411204, Jun 25, 2002
Filed:
Nov 15, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/440497
Inventors:
John Bloomfield - Bluffton SC
Niall R. Lynam - Holland MI
Assignee:
Donnelly Corporation - Holland MI
International Classification:
B60Q 150
US Classification:
340467, 340464, 340466, 340471, 340479
Abstract:
An anti-collision safety light control for a vehicle includes a microprocessor which receives one or more inputs and controls an output of at least one indicator or signaling device in response to the inputs. The microprocessor is continuously powered or energized when the vehicle is in use, such that the indicator may be modulated in situations when the brake pedal of the vehicle is not applied. Preferably, an accelerometer may be included with the safety light system to provide a deceleration signal to the microprocessor, which may determine whether the deceleration is at or above one or more threshold levels and correspondingly modulate the indicator in accordance with the particular threshold level encountered. The microprocessor may modulate the indicator independent of actuation of the brake pedal by a driver of the vehicle.

Anti-Collision Safety System For Vehicle

US Patent:
6850156, Feb 1, 2005
Filed:
Jun 24, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/178425
Inventors:

Abstract:
An anti-collision safety system for a vehicle includes a microprocessor which receives one or more inputs and controls an output of at least one indicator or signaling device in response to the inputs. The microprocessor may be continuously powered or energized when the vehicle is in use, such that the indicator may be modulated in situations when the brake pedal of the vehicle is not applied. Preferably, a proximity sensing device may be provided to detect objects exteriorly of the vehicle. Preferably, an accelerometer may also be included to provide a deceleration signal to the microprocessor. The microprocessor may modulate the indicator independent of actuation of the brake pedal by a driver of the vehicle.

Single Device To Create Flame And Extinguish Flame

US Patent:
2007012, May 31, 2007
Filed:
Nov 29, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/605643
Inventors:
John Bloomfield - Hilton Head Island SC, US
International Classification:
F23D 11/36
F23D 5/02
US Classification:

Abstract:
A single inexpensive device that creates flame utilizing an igniter that ignites an internal fuel source and a means and methods for extinguishing a flame all integrated into the same said device.

Drilling Device And Process

US Patent:
2013033, Dec 19, 2013
Filed:
Jun 14, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/918414
Inventors:
John Bloomfield - Hilton Head Island SC, US
International Classification:
E21B 10/633
US Classification:
1754201
Abstract:
A plurality of cutting faces is attached sequentially at a distal end of a drill string. The forward most cutting face that is distal to the top of the hole is exposed and used for drilling until worn to a point of inefficiency. The forward most or distal cutting face is then detached, exposing the next cutting face in the sequence. Detachment of the forward most cutting face is performed by remote actuation at the top of the drill string and/or outside the hole. A new cutting face is provided without the necessity of removing the drill string. The detachment process is repeated as long as drilling is continued and cutting faces remain.

Voice Simulator

US Patent:
4691360, Sep 1, 1987
Filed:
Nov 26, 1985
Appl. No.:
6/802585
Inventors:
John W. Bloomfield - Hilton Head Island SC
International Classification:
A61F 120
US Classification:
381 70
Abstract:
A hand held housing encloses a battery powered sound generator from which an audible voice simulating tone is transmitted through a tube when a push button switch is depressed also causing illumination of an indicator lamp. The tube is displaceable relative to the housing between extended and retracted positions. In the extended position, the tube may be inserted into the mouth.

Platform Mounted Ultrasonic Sweep Detection System

US Patent:
5079752, Jan 7, 1992
Filed:
Mar 26, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/498620
Inventors:
John W. Bloomfield - Hilton Head Island SC
Assignee:
E.L.F. Limited Partnership - Hilton Head Island SC
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. - Suwon City
International Classification:
G01S 1500
US Classification:
367104
Abstract:
Ultrasonic energy is emitted within a detection envelope from a single transducer and echoes of targets therein are received during scanning displacement of the transducer through a predetermined sweep angle from a zero position on a platform, against the centering bias of springs through which pulse signal current is conducted to and from the transducer. An electromagnetic scanner drive imparts oscillatory motion to the transducer by magnetic generation of displacing forces varied in accordance with its loading at the zero position of the transducer and at limit positions detected by a position sensor to maintain a constant scanning sweep angle in timed relation to pulsing of the transducer through a transmit-receive circuit under preprogrammed computer control.

International Classification:
G08B 1900
B25J 500
US Classification:
340521
Abstract:
A mobile detection system for detecting a fire, gas leak, intruder, or other abnormal condition in a house or an office, and for alerting a central monitor, fire station, police station, or an occupant who is away from the house or office. The mobile detection system comprises a self-propelled movable robot having sensors located thereon. A monitor receives signals from the robot and alerts an authorized user accordingly. An automatic communication control unit includes a telephone transmitting unit for automatically calling an appropriate party in response to a signal from the robot and transmits commands to the robot from an authorized calling party. A radio frequency remote controller for remotely controls the robot. The robot is specifically capable of navigating throughout a house or an office while using its sensors to detect abnormal conditions. In the event that an abnormal condition is detected, the robot initiates communication control unit to alert an appropriate party of the existing abnormal condition.
