Apparatus and methods are provided for separating photographic film strips, adhered to a splice, by restricting movement of the splice and then pulling the film strips longitudinally in opposite directions. According to one feature, the splice adhesive is heated until it softens, preferably with a hot shoe applied against the splice under pressure. According to other features a space is left between the ends of the film strips when they are spliced together, and the splice is engaged from both sides while the film strips are pulled apart. Still more specifically, according to another aspect of the invention, a carrier or splice pick-up web is provided for removing the splices from the area and for holding the removed splices in a manner particularly convenient for disposal.

An image recording apparatus wherein paper sheets are fed to a transport system along a predetermined feed path having a center line. The apparatus is provided with a pair of edge guides opposedly arranged about the center line for holding the paper sheets. Movement of one of the edge guides results in the corresponding movement of the other about the center line. A cartridge magazine is provided including a plurality of sleeves, each defining a pocket for containing a film cartridge, and a hub supporting the sleeves parallel to one another in a ring. Each sleeve defines a non-circular cross-section accommodating longitudinal movement of the cartridges through the sleeve, but blocking rotational movement of the cartridges in the sleeve. The sleeve, is open along one side, defining a slot for accessing cartridges from the exterior of the magazine. In certain applications, film in selected cartridges is advanced from the cartridge and through the slot without removing the cartridge from the magazine. According to other features, duplicate sections of the magazine are combined with the sleeves arranged in columns for increased capacity.

A fuser member is mounted adjacent to the path and has a wick for applying release material which is fluid at fusing temperatures to the fuser member.
